Final Monitoring Visit at the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia (NUACA)

On May 21, representatives of the “Centre for Education Projects” PIU and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia conducted a working visit to the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia (NUACA). The purpose of the visit was to monitor the ongoing Competitive Innovation Fund (CIF) implemented grant project. Representatives of the “Centre for Education Projects” PIU and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia , accompanied by the head of the NUACA grant project, associate professor of the Chair of Engineering Geodesy, Ph.D. Varazdat Hovhannisyan and by the head of the Coordinating Department of Education, and Associate Professor of the Chair of Theoretical Mechanics and Resistance of Materials, Ph.D. Angin Martirosyan, got acquainted with the ongoing work on the creation of the "SMARTLAB" center, which is being established within the framework of the project "Providing smart solutions for modeling, design and management of engineering systems and increasing the efficiency of educational programs by equipping them with laboratory testing devices". As part of the project, the following activities have been carried out: establishment of an Internet of Tools (IoT) laboratory, Allocation and furnishing of appropriate area for specific testing devices within existing laboratories, establishment of a computer classroom equipped with the necessary software packages, Introduction of Building Information Modeling (BIM) approaches into the educational programs of the University. It should be noted that the establishment of the "SMARTLAB" is being carried out according to the action plan defined by the grant project. During the visit, the CEP PIU respective program staff together with the the representative of the MOESCS Committee of Higher Education and Science, and the university representatives, discussed the planned activities outlined in the project timeline and their implementation progress. Accompanied by the head and by the coordinator of the grant project, the members of the monitoring team visited the newly equipped "SMARTLAB" laboratory and the computer classroom furnished by the university. It should be noted that within the framework of the grant project computer equipment was fully delivered and installed in the designated areas.
It should be mentioned that all laboratory equipment and materials acquired through the grant project had already been installed in the respective laboratories.
During the visit, Ara Zakaryan, together with the representatives of the NUACA, inspected the laboratory equipment and supplies purchased within the frames of the grant project, checked their compliance with the technical specifications defined in the contract, as well as discussed the capabilities of the laboratory equipment.
Grant project coordinator Angin Martirosyan also informed that the review of professional education programs has been summarized and they are in the approval phase. She emphasized that Building Information Modeling (BIM) approaches are already being integrated in the university's educational programs.
