11.02.2025

The Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) is actively replenishing the Center for Excellence in Natural Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) as part of the agreement concluded between the ASPU and the “Center for Educational Projects”.

The program is aimed at improving the quality of teacher education and modernizing the latter, as well as creating an environment in which training, research and the use of creative ideas are combined.
Recently, the ASPU conducted regular monitoring during which the group of experts from the “Center for Educational Projects” Implementation Unit were introduced to the completed and current activities and the process of equipping the laboratories.
The experts and the specialists from the ASPU engaged in a discussion on the technical and research components for equipping of the Center, the use of effective management models, the innovative directions for educational programs, as well as the prospects for advancement of students and young specialists.
Let us mention that the collaboration between the specialists and experts is targeted at exchange of the best experiences, maximally effective organization of the working process and quality development of the target areas of the Center. This one-of-a-kind Center will provide the opportunity to create an environment at the ASPU in which students and pedagogues will carry out research and educational programs and will develop methodologies and tools that will foster the qualitative improvement of teaching of STEM in the modern school.
As a matter of fact, development of the concept paper on and regulations for strategic development of the Center for Excellence in Natural Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics is in progress.
The key component for strategic development of the Center is international cooperation — the task force for the Center’s content development is being set up, and specialists will be undergoing training at the University of Valladolid soon.
The representatives of the ASPU are certain that getting acquainted with the successful European practice will provide the opportunity to introduce the best methods and tools that will go on to be localized in the educational process of students and lecturers, and the strengthening of academic and educational ties with prestigious international institutions will help increase the reputation of the University and enhance the educational system in Armenia. As a result, the ASPU will strengthen its leading position in the teacher education sector, offering modern, applied and high-quality education in STEM.
The Center’s activities will not only improve the quality of vocational education, but will also help establish a new level of the Armenian education system where future teachers will become specialists who are more competitive, create more and have more ideas.
