Visit of the World Bank Representatives to the “Center of Excellence in Dental Education”

On December 7, 2023 the World Bank team, accompanied by the CEP PIU representatives visited the "Center of Excellence in Dental Education” established at Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi within the framework of the first main stage of the Competitive Innovation Fund (CIF) .The visit was attended by Rita Almeida, the Head of the World Bank Education Global Practice covering the the Europe and Central Asia region (ECA), Ahmet Levent Yener, The World Bank Program Leader for the Human Development Practice Group in South Caucasus, Anna Berdzenadze, the World Bank Education Specialist in South Caucasus, Narine Tadevosyan, Senior Operations Officer in the World Bank Armenia, Hasmik Soghomonyan, the Head of External Relations of the World Bank Armenia , as well as Armine Khachatryan, CEP PIU Project Manager and Armine Minasyan, the Head of the “Mainstreaming of the CIF for Higher Education Institutions (HEI) into Full Implementation” Component.
Margarita Khudaverdyan, the director of the center, received the representatives of the mission and presented the activities of the center. She mentioned that the center is a unique and the newest educational complex for the formation of professional skills in the field of pediatric, orthopedic, surgical and therapeutic dentistry, equipped with special software models, phantoms, with simulators, computer and related equipment, as well as educational academic literature. Due to its kind and opportunities, the center allows to develop students' practical skills and minimize the number of medical errors during professional activities, in both undergraduate and postgraduate stages of dental education as well as in continuous educational process.
The participants of the visit toured the center, got acquainted with the dental models and equipment available in the center. It should also be noted that during the visit, an educational process was underway in the center. Different groups of the Faculty of Dentistry were doing practical work in the center .
The World Bank representatives noted that they were quite impressed with the results of the project. They thanked the director of the Center M. Khudaverdyan and the representatives of "Center for Education Projects" PIU for a very effective cooperation.
