Within the frames of the CIF Cycle of EIP AF, Grants were Provided to Grant Projects of 5 HEIs in the Field of STEM

From September 19, 2022, within the frames of the "Education Improvement Project Additional Financing" loan project (EIP AF), the tender process for providing grants to universities was launched, and the deadline for submission of grant proposals was set November 21, 2022. By the deadline, 11 grant proposals were submitted by 11 HEIs ( 5 proposals for consortium projects and 6 proposals for separate projects). . According to the CIF procedures, submitted grant proposals were evaluated by the Project Review Panel (PRP) experts.
Let's remind that according to the CIF OM, "Center for Education Projects" PIU submits to CIF Selection Committee (SC) the conclusion of evaluation results of PRP experts on the basis of which the CIF SC makes a final decision on the selection of the projects to be funded. Within the frames of the CIF cycle of EIP AF by the decision of the CIF SC grants were awarded to grant projects of the following 5 HEIs- 2 consortium and 3 individual projects:
• Yerevan State University - Establishment of Research and Educational Center for the Micro-fabrication of Optical Systems- (consortium project);
• Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi – Brain Visualization Laboratory( consortium project);
• National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia – Assurance of Smart Solutions for the modeling, designing and managing of engineering systems, and the improvement of educational programs' efficiency by the replenishment of laboratory test equipment.(individual project);
• Armenian National Agrarian University – Establishing of a Center of Excellence for Agricultural Robotics and Mechatronics in Agricultural Engineering; (individual project);
• Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan - Establishing a center of excellence in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, developing the capacity of future and in-service teachers. (individual project).
On June 28, 2023 a workshop was organized by the CEP PIU relevant staff for the representatives of the five CIF grant holder HEIs to support the effective implementation of grant projects. The participants of the workshop were provided with consultations on the overall implementation process of the grant projects, on project management and monitoring, on WB procurement procedures and on financial aspects of grant projects. All the questions raised by HEI’s representatives have been comprehensively addressed․All grant projects will be implemented between June 2023 and June 2025.
