Hambardzum Matevosyan, Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Brusov State University, participated in a workshop dedicated to the summarization of the results of one of the innovative programs, the establishment of HighLingTech Center for Excellence in Language and Education Technology.

Note that the program is aimed at the development of technology-based education and research in Armenia.

Attaching importance to the implementation of such programs, the Deputy Prime Minister stressed that modern scientific and technological developments dictate the revision of the content and organization methods of higher education, in terms of improving the final results of the education, effective implementation of educational programs, strengthening ties with labor market, introducing innovations, etc.

According to Hambardzum Matevosyan, the creation of a knowledge-based economy makes the integration of research and learning in the process of higher education a priority, which provides an opportunity to prepare specialists with relevant theoretical knowledge, practical skills and abilities, who will be competitive in both Armenia and the world labor market.

"In this context, I would like to specially emphasize that in order to make the science sector more competitive, to attract young people and to ensure progress in the field, the Government has increased science funding by 85% in 2022 compared to 2021, and increased funding for thematic-scientific research by 2.5 times. We have also tangible progress in increasing the salaries of scientists․ As a result of salary scaling, a significantly higher salary system has begun to operate in certified organizations since January 1, 2022, which will increase every year until 2025”, the Deputy PM said, considering it imperative to establish a strong link between education, research, innovation and business in the context of modern trends in the development of the economy and the labor market.

Summing up the speech, Deputy Prime Minister Matevosyan wished the participants of the workshop fruitful work.

Note that the grant program became a reality with the funding of the Competitive Innovation Fund implemented within the framework of the World Bank "Education Improvement" loan program.
