The representatives of CEP PIU during the whole rehabilitation period and as well in March visited the RA regions for the purpose of technical monitoring of the quality and temps of rehabilitation works of high schools in the frameworks of Education Improvement Project. The visits were carried out by the representatives of the “Support to the development of the third level of secondary school” subcomponent of PIU - Grigor Baghdasaryan, Narek Poghosyan and Rafael Arzumanyan. The representatives of the CEP PIU got acquainted with the ongoing construction works at the following schools; Metsamor city high school # 2 in Armavir region, Ararat city high school # 3 in Ararat Region, Hrazdan city high school #1in Kotayq region, Martuni city high school after T. Abrahamyan in Gegharqunik region and Noyemberyan city high school # 1 in Tavush region. The rehabilitation works in above schools started in 2016. The works are carried out according to the first stage of high school rehabilitation in the frames of Education Improvement Project. It should be mentioned that reconstruction activities are carried out according to seismic safety standards. Note that 5 schools were selected on the criteria developed by the Ministry of Education and Science and agreed with the World Bank.
During the visits the representatives of PIU examined the quality of the construction works. They also toured across the rehabilitation area, discussed a number of issues related to design and construction activities. As a result of monitoring the representatives of CEP PIU mentioned that the works for the improvement of schools' areas are in the final stage, construction of playgrounds, exterior and interior stairs are being summarized; installation of vinyl, laminate, matogranite flooring is being implemented. It should be noted that in December –January the works on the construction of roofs, installation of windows, strengthening of buildings have been completed.
It should be added that the works on the improvement of the roof of Hrazdan School N 1 in the Kotayk region and its adjacent territory are also being summed up, and the construction of the boiler house and the installation of heating boilers are ongoing at the Martuni city high school after T. Abrahamyan in the Gegharqunik region.
The PIU representatives stated that 77% of the construction works are implemented and that the completion of rehabilitation is scheduled for autumn of the current year. The representatives of the contractor organizations were also present during the visits. The participants state that such visits facilitate the rehabilitation process in the above-mentioned high schools.
