The three-day workshop launched in Center for Education Projects

On September 20 three-day workshop organized in the framework of ''Education Improvement'' Credit Project of ''Center for Education Projects'' PIU, Ministry of Education and Science, launched, which is aimed at compliance and review of education content. The representatives of RA Ministry of Education and Science, National Institute of Education, RA Ministry of Education and Science ''Center for Education Projects'' PIU participated in the workshop. National Curriculum Project introduced by the subcomponent ''Support to the Improvement of Education Quality through the review of curriculum and standards'' of ''Center for Education Projects'' is in the center of attention of the workshop, which has been developed as a result of the review of state curriculum and standards of general education. The Head of the subcomponent ''Support to the Improvement of Education Quality through the review of curriculum and standards'' of ''Center for Education Projects'' Karen Melkonyan presented workshop agenda and objectives. Highlighting the importance of curriculum review and stressing its role in the development of the education system, he wished the participants of the workshop productive work and expressed hope for professional debate. Let us remind that National Curriculum Project includes the vision for RA education development, the mission and goals of general education, competences, the description of secondary school graduates, qualitative requirements for learnersaccording to three levels of general education,as well as the evaluation system of the learning process, complex programs of subjects, new requirements for educational environment and resources. Education expert, Executive Director of Strategic Planning and Institutional Research at Pratt Institute in New York, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, VladimirBriller also participated in the workshop. Vladimir Briller presented his observations and suggestions on National Curriculum Project. A professional discussion started. Highlighting the tendency of making some adjustments and reforms in National Curriculum Project, Vladimir Briller stated, "The international experience and the process of reforms implemented in other countries can be important and useful for Armenian partners." The chapters ''The vision for RA education development'' and ''The mission and goals of general education'' of National Curriculum Project were discussed in the first session of the workshop. During discussions the suggestions presented were analyzed one by one, in particular, the expert stressed the possibilities of their implementation. Professional discussions will also be continued on September 22 and 23.
