The World Bank Delegation Visited the Educational Institutions with the Representatives of the Center for Education Projects

On October 8–9, within the framework of her visit to Armenia, the World Bank Task Team Leader Mrs. Shizuka  Konimoto,WB’s ES specialists accompanied by representatives of the Center for Education Projects PIU, visited Yerevan High School No. 139 after K. Demirchyanas well as the Artashat High School of Ararat region , Ashtarak High School of Aragatsotn Region, and Vanadzor High School of Lori Region (being constructed/reconstructed in the frames of the Projcet).
Monitoring of the implemented and current work, carried out within the framework of the World Bank co-financed "Education Improvement Project Additional Financing" loan project, was in the context of the visits.Accompanied by PIU Safeguard specialist Anna Karapetyan , Head of 1.2 sub-component Grigor Baghdasaryan and Coordinator of 1.2 Subcomponent M. Saribekyan, Mrs. Konimoto began her visit on October 8 from Yerevan High School No. 139, wherevarious questions related to seismic strengthening of the building and to overall rehabilitation activities were discussed.
The next stop was Artashat High School ofArarat Region, where construction works are in the final stage. It is envisioned that he construction activities in Artashat high school will befully completed by December 2025.
On October 9, the World Bank representative visited two more high schools — in Vanadzor and Ashtarak being reconstructed in the frames of the Project. During the visits, representatives of the World Bank and the PIU monitored the quality of the construction works and discussed several project and construction-related matters. One more time the strict deadlines had been emphasized.

The visit concluded at the Center for Education Projects, where Mrs. Konimoto held a joint discussion with PIU staff, summarizing the results of the mission and expressing appreciation for the effective collaboration and successful implementation of the project.
