85 Preschool Facilities Established Across Armenia
15.06.2026
Within the framework of the Education Improvement Project Additional Financing Loan Project, a total of 85 preschool facilities have been established across Armenia’s regions and in Yerevan.
The micro-project implementation process was carried out under the subcomponent “Promoting School Readiness and Equal Opportunities at the Start of General Education”. As part of this initiative, needs assessments were conducted across Armenia’s regions starting in July 2022 and continued throughout the project period. The assessments included data collection and analysis aimed at identifying communities unable to provide co-financing and therefore requiring full financial support.
Based on the findings, awareness-raising activities were organized for community leaders, parents, and other stakeholders to present the importance and benefits of preschool education, including for children with special educational needs, as well as the procedures for implementing the micro-projects.
Co-financed by the World Bank, the micro-projects implemented by theCenterFor Education Projects PIU included the renovation of school facilities, installation of doors and windows, tiling, interior finishing works, and improvement of surrounding areas.
The newly established preschool facilities are fully furnished and equipped with the necessary learning materials for early childhood education. Children now benefit from bright and welcoming classrooms, comfortable storage spaces, and play areas equipped with educational toys.Prior to the launch of the facilities, school principals and preschool educators received targeted training. All newly established preschools also comply with inclusive education standards and provide accessible environments for children with diverse needs.
As a result, accessible and sustainable preschool education services have been established in 85 communities, including:
• Yerevan – 20 preschools
• Armavir Province – 12
• Aragatsotn Province – 14
• Ararat Province – 4
• Kotayk Province – 9
• Gegharkunik Province – 10
• Shirak Province – 10
• Lori Province – 2
• Tavush Province – 1
• VayotsDzor Province – 3
In addition, 25 playgrounds were constructed adjacent to preschool facilities. The project also provided training for 85 school principals and 174 preschool educators.
