The Visit of World Bank Representatives to the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia

The delegation headed by the World Bank Task Team Leader Ms. Shizuka Kunimoto, was in Armenia on October 1-3. In the frames of their visit to Armenia, and in the frames of CIF component of EIP AF, on October 2, the World Bank representatives visited the Building Information Modeling (BIM) laboratory of the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, and got acquainted with "SMARTLAB" center. The implementation of the project started in June 2023. As a result of the project, the establishment of the IoT laboratory, the creation of a computer-classroom with the provision of necessary software packages, and the introduction of Building Information Modeling (BIM) approaches into the educational programs of the university are being implemented. The guests had a tour in the university and talked with professors and students, accompanied by the grant project manager, associate professor of the Chair of Engineering Geodesy, Ph.D. Varazdat Hovhannisyan, by the head of the Coordinating Department of Education, and by Associate Professor of the Chair of Theoretical Mechanics and Resistance of Materials, Ph.D. Angin Martirosyan. Grant project Manager presented the process of the project implementation and the expected results, and also spoke about the ongoing research. He emphasized that as a result of the project, the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) approaches are being implemented in the educational programs of the university. "Using BIM technologies will create intelligent data that can be used throughout the entire cycle of design, construction and operation of a building or infrastructure, which begins with the creation of an intelligent 3D model and provides document management, coordination and modeling throughout the project (planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance). This approach will allow to implement new scientific research developments for the needs of the Republic of Armenia», added the project manager.
The guests were impressed by the results of the grant projects and thanked the representatives of the "Center for Education Projects " PIU and the university representatives for effective cooperation.
