The Grant Projectof NUACA Sums up One Year

On July 23, in the context of the two-week monitoring visits, the representatives of the “Center for Education Projects” PIU and MESCS paid a working visit to the National University of Architecture and Construction ofArmenia (NUACA). The purpose of the visit was the monitoring of the ongoing grant project of the Competitive Innovation Fund (CIF) of Higher Education of Armenia.The working group, accompanied by Varazdat Hovhannisyan, the manager of the NUACA grant project, got acquainted with the current works on the establishment of the training and experimental laboratory base named"Construction and exploitation of transport routes" within the framework of the second main phase of the CIF.It should be noted that the NUACA grant program envisages review and implementation of the educational program"Construction and exploitation of transport routes" and separation of two directions in the form of educational units within the framework of the latter; "Road Construction" and "Bridges and Transport Tunnels", creation of a modern educational-scientific-experimental laboratory base aimed at strengthening the capacity of the university, as well as digitization of professional courses of the "Construction and exploitation of transport routes"master's educational program using the electronic platform Moodle.At the beginning of the meeting, the members of the working group discussed the activities envisaged by the program schedule and the process of their implementation with the representatives of the grant project management staff.Then, the participants visited the appropriate areas for the laboratory to be established within the framework of the grant project, one of which was already ready, and the other was undergoing renovation works.The grant project manager mentioned that the stationery and computer equipment acquired within the frameworks of the program are stored in the relevant area, and the acquisition procurement and supply of laboratory equipment and devices is planned to be carried out in October of this year.Grant project coordinator A. Martirosyan noted that steps have been taken to reform the content of education within the framework of the program. In particular, the teaching staff of the university has launched a process of review and implementation of the "Construction and exploitation of transport routes" master's degree program, development of its curricullum, educational program development, moreover separation of two directions "Road Construction" and "Bridges and Transport Tunnels"in the form of educational units is planned.So, due to the grant project coordinator, the curricula have already been approved by the NUACA scientific council, and currently, the teaching staff of the university is developing curricula.At the same time, due to A Martirosyan, the university has started the implementation of the necessary work for the digitization of the professional courses included in the "Construction and exploitation of transport routes" educational program, using the electronic platform Moodle."The implementation of online training in the context of the COVID 19 implies new approaches and new ICT tools.In the current situation, the use of the e-platform Moodle is even more important in terms of having a complete online learning toolset to ensure the continuity of students' education"; stated A. Martirosyan.VarazdatHovhannisyan, the manager of the NUACA grant project, added that the establishment of the laboratory will contribute to the modernization of basic research on the construction of roads, basic and applied research in the field of exploitation, will allow carrying out technical cooperation with the existing construction industry, with the construction and construction’s supervision organizations, both in the field of performing the necessary new developments, as well as in the fields of conducting examinations of used building materials, products, constructions and constructive solutions.
